The National Safety Council Recognizes June as National Safety Month – an annual observance to help keep each other safe from the workplace to any place. For more than 25 years, NSM has provided weekly resources to highlight leading causes of preventable injury and death so people can live their fullest lives.

Safety is The JDI Group’s top priority, so we take that into account both internally with our employees and as an integral part of our design basis as we meet our client’s needs.

Our team participates in an internal weekly safety program featuring a variety of random safety topics and an associated quiz each week.

We have several individuals on staff with SIS certification as part of our process design team that design safety instrumented systems that are safe, reliable, economical, constructible, and maintainable in accordance with industry standards and work processes. These Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are designed to shut down a chemical, refining, nuclear, electrical, or mechanical system, or part of it, if a hazardous condition is detected.

We can provide a Functional Safety Engineer with TÜV Rheinland Certification for audits, risk assessment support, and consultation. This FS Engineer certification recognizes compliance with a wide range of safety standards and how those are applied to system designs, the safety rating specified for products, management systems, manufacturing processes, and personnel.

Our team also performs Electrical Process Risk Assessments. This includes arc flash analysis and mitigation, electrical safety training for our clients, and first responder radio testing at our client’s facilities.

We are also involved with Process Safety Management (PSM). PSM is the development and implementation of safe work practices and system audits to prevent or minimize the consequences of catastrophic releases of hazardous materials, some of which may result in toxic, fire, or explosion hazards if not eliminated or mitigated in the front-end design process, as well as revisited when any changes are made to a process. The JDI Group is often a partner with our clients, actively supporting and participating in these PSM processes:

  • Hazard and Operability Study/Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP/PHA)
  • Management of Change (MOC)
  • Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR)
