The Transportation Technology Building at Owens Community College has been home to the Caterpillar and John Deere technician degree programs for twenty years. In order to allow newer and more advanced equipment to become part of the training curriculum, the College expanded their existing facility. An addition of 10,860 SF to the lab space enables the facility to house much heavier equipment. Repairs and updates to 40’ of concrete apron surrounding the building were also made to support the new equipment.
The expansion houses standard vehicle and large vehicle bays, component work areas, specialty tool storage, and pallet rack storage. The project construction cost was $1.3 million.
The JDI Group provided full architectural, mechanical engineering, plumbing design, electrical engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, and construction administration services on this project.
