Looking to create additional indoor storage space, Mid-American Salt contacted JDI to enclose the space between two existing structures. JDI’s structural engineering team analyzed the adjacent structures, including rails that formerly supported a bridge crane. Utilizing the existing rails would eliminate the need to construct new columns. This allowed for increased storage space.
The design specified retrofitting the existing crane rails, and providing reinforcements to support snow loads on the new roof. It proved to be an efficient, cost-effective way to add indoor storage space for the client.
JDI’s team is always willing to analyze the client’s needs and existing site and look for unique solutions.
