The Oaks 100 Teaching Kitchen was a phased project that started as a feasibility study. The space had been occupied by Pinkberry, a yogurt outlet, but it was thought to be better suited as a classroom space. The first phase was to determine if the room was sufficient in size for their anticipated classes and an order-of-magnitude cost estimate. Subsequently, the project entered design development where the mechanical system was vetted for size and further refinements to the estimate were made. Funds were then secured to proceed with construction documents and construction administration. During construction, the project ran into a few issues that were analyzed by the team, and cost-effective measures were developed to keep the construction moving forward.
