As an Instrumentation Engineer at The JDI Group, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and integrating systems that bring precision, efficiency, and safety to a wide array of market sectors—ranging from chemical and petrochemical to manufacturing, food, and metals industries. You’ll collaborate with our multidiscipline teams to develop sophisticated, code-compliant solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, and develop instrumentation and control systems for process and manufacturing environments
  • Prepare instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
  • Assist in developing P&IDs and instrument indexes
  • Perform field investigations and inspections for system integration and commissioning
  • Specify and coordinate the installation of sensors, transmitters, valves, and other field devices
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and cross-discipline project teams to define control strategies and system requirements

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • BSEE or BSEET from an accredited university and 5+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation and controls. Substantially experienced individuals will also be considered
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant loop diagram software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical or SPI/Intools)
  • Familiarity with Revit and facility electrical experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, control panels, and PLC/DCS systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ISA standards and NEC codes
  • Ability to interpret and design process control philosophies and sequences of operation
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Salary Range: $80,000 – $135,000/year depending on education, experience, and any certifications directly related to the position
