Math Computer Lab Renovation
The JDI Group, Inc. partnered with Terra State Community College to modernize math lab A-204 in the Roy W. Klay Hall. The 1,433-square-foot renovation transformed an aging classroom into a bright, technology-rich learning environment that supports collaborative, flexible instruction for students and faculty. The project upgraded finishes, lighting, and audiovisual infrastructure while incorporating new ergonomic furnishings and writable wall surfaces to enhance engagement and functionality.
JDI provided full architectural and interior design services, including demolition planning, finish selection, lighting upgrades, and technology coordination. The renovation included new carpet tile flooring, rubber wall base, paint, and acoustical ceiling tiles, along with LED lighting fixtures and wireless dimming controls for energy efficiency. Writable wall treatment was installed to create continuous teaching surfaces, while data poles, power feeds, and floor outlets were reconfigured to support flexible computer lab layouts.
The updated design included a professor workstation, printer area, and 30 powered student stations arranged for clear sightlines and interactive instruction. Mechanical and electrical systems were carefully coordinated to integrate new HyFlex technology, allowing the classroom to function both in-person and virtually.
Completed in 2022, the renovated math lab delivers a flexible, technology-forward learning space that reflects Terra State’s commitment to modern, student-centered education. The revitalized environment enhances collaboration, supports digital learning, and aligns with the college’s vision of innovation and academic excellence.
Atrium Furniture Conceptual Design
The JDI Group, Inc. partnered with Terra State Community College to design and implement new furniture layouts for multiple campus common areas, including the main atrium and student gathering spaces. The project focused on transforming underutilized areas into vibrant, multifunctional environments that invite students to linger, collaborate, and connect. The goal was to create functional, comfortable, and visually cohesive spaces that enhance social interaction, support informal learning, and encourage students to stay engaged on campus throughout the day.
JDI provided conceptual furniture layouts, manufacturer specifications, and finish selections using standard in-grade materials and fabrics. The design team also developed detailed bid documents and assisted Terra State through the furniture procurement and bid process, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to the college’s quality and design standards. Two qualified suppliers were evaluated to provide the best value and performance for the project.
Completed in Fall 2023, the project successfully transformed several high-traffic student spaces into inviting, flexible lounge environments that support both individual study and group collaboration. The updated atrium furniture design reflects Terra State’s commitment to enhancing campus life and providing modern, student-centered spaces for learning and connection.
Cooling Tower Replacement
Wadsworth Solutions contracted JDI to conduct a structural analysis of the existing steel support of the cooling tower on the roof of Building E as it related to the replacement of the cooling unit. The design approach was to design a new platform matching the dimensions of the new chiller to be supported by the existing cooling tower platform.
