jdi Recognized as Top Workplace - Wins Work/Life Balance Category

the jdi group, Inc. was named a 2017 Top Workplace in the Toledo Metro Area, the third year the firm has made the list.

The Blade, a Toledo-based newspaper, and WorkplaceDynamics, a Philadelphia-based employee survey firm, developed the Top Workplace listing from surveys that were filled out by staff of the individual firms. In all, 583 companies were invited to participate, and 40 firms made the final listing. The list of firms was divided into three categories based upon size, and the jdi group came in eleventh in the Small Size Companies group, those with 74 or fewer employees. jdi employs 69 workers.

In addition to the Top Workplaces, special award recipients were recognized based on stand-out scores on the survey. the jdi group won in the category of Work/Life Balance.

"To be named a Top Workplace in our region is extremely gratifying,” states Tim Fry, an architect and owner of jdi. "To win in the category of Work/Life Balance is icing on top of the cake. It’s a sign that we are achieving our goal to create a work environment that also respects our employees’ needs.” jdi was founded on the principle of providing architectural and engineering services, empowering staff to carry out what they are trained to do without being micromanaged. According to Fry, "The Top Workplace and Work/Life Balance awards confirm we are headed in the right direction.”

The employee survey consisted of 24 questions covering a variety of different factors: the direction the firm is headed and its execution, the level of appreciation shown for employees’ efforts, employee engagement, and confidence in company leadership, among others.
